Change to the Off-Campus Access Method for Electronic Resources (Effective August 10, 2026)

The University of Tokyo Library System has announced that, starting Monday, August 10, 2026, the method for members of the University of Tokyo to access e-journals, e-books, and databases from off campus will change. EZproxy will be replaced by the single sign-on (SSO) service OpenAthens.

  • What will change: The method for accessing electronic resources from off campus will change from EZproxy to OpenAthens.
  • Authentication: Your UTokyo Account will continue to be used.

Around the effective date, off-campus access to some e-journals, e-books, and databases may be temporarily unavailable. We appreciate your understanding.

Details of the New Access Method

Detailed instructions for the new access method will be announced by the University of Tokyo Library System at a later date. For the latest information, please refer to “Notice of Change to Off-Campus Access Method for Electronic Resources (Effective August 10, 2026)”.

The descriptions of EZproxy on utelecon pages will be updated after the change.
